THE INTENTION BEHIND I4KIDS
The children and young people of Romania have been affected by the recent economic, social and political changes. As parents have struggled to find employment, there has been an increase in poverty.
Children living in these families sometimes face delicate situations such as exploitation and violence. Many are taken into care in the end. Others end up homeless and turn to drugs and crime. Therefore, many of Romania’s children and young people have no education and no perspective to participate in social life.
Islands 4 Kids is helping abandoned children, orphans and disadvantaged young people in Romania by creating them a PLACE TO CALL HOME.
I4Kids accomplishes this by creating an extended family. These islands are houses, which will be located close to or in small rural villages and within easy reach for the young people around. Our effort is to build sustainable homes that become mostly self-sufficient.
This is achieved by developing each island based on sound economic principles.
The plan assumes to create several islands within Romania.
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
Shortly after coming to Romania in 1992, Robert Jacobs began to see a disturbing situation with the children and youth. During that time, Robert and his team have seen the way many orphans, abandoned and disadvantaged children are exploited in Romania.
We’re proud to be one of the groups helping to make positive life changes happen.
Islands 4 Kids and our sister program, Progress On sponsor the development of and the implementation of programs to provide the youth with A PLACE to Call HOME at our islands4kids location and are designed to bring kids together into an extended family where they can live and work together in a secure, nurturing and loving home. We also conduct teaching programs at our island location for the children and youth from the surrounding villages.
Islands4kids locations are designed to bring kids together into an extended family, living and working together in a secure, nurturing and loving home.

A PLACE TO CALL HOME
"We belief every child deserves a family."
Islands 4 Kids is dedicated to the creation of sustainable, self-sufficient surrogate families based on sound economic principles. The first Island 4 Kids is in progress and will be the working model to be duplicated to develop additional islands for an Increasing number of youth with a home and a family. A stable setting WHERE they can have a secure, nurturing environment in which they can live, learn, train and grow in order to become productive members of the community. The youth and adults become part of a surrogate family, not an orphanage or foster care, but a private extended family.
